At least 7 tornadoes touched down Tuesday in South Dakota
The National Weather Service said survey teams have confirmed nine tornadoes that touched down within their Aberdeen office's range on June 13 — seven of them in South Dakota.
The details of the nine tornadoes as listed by the NWS are as follows:
4:16 p.m. - Spotters said a tornado briefly touched down 8 miles south of Rockham in a field. It caused no damage.
4:25 p.m. - Witnesses said an EF-1 tornado touched down near a farm 5 miles southwest of Zell. The tornado snapped several trees, tore the roof off a barn and partially destroyed a machine shed.
4:32 p.m. - Spotters said an EF-0 tornado touched down briefly 2 miles south-southwest of Zell. It scattered debris but caused no damage.
6:05 p.m. - Spotters said a tornado was observed 4 miles south of Groton, but no damage was reported.
7:55 p.m. - A brief tornado touchdown caused the collapse of a barn roof.
8:23 p.m. - Witnesses said a small tornado touched down 2 miles west-southwest of New Effington, snapping and uprooting many trees in the area.
8:25 p.m. - A tornado touched down and uprooted several trees 2 miles north of New Effington.
8:27 p.m. - Storm chasers 4 miles north of Clinton, Minnesota, observed a brief tornado that extensively damaged a farmstead, destroying or damaging several buildings.
8:30 p.m. - A resident saw a brief tornado touch down 2 miles northwest of Johnson, Minnesota, in a field before moving to a farmstead. A garage was damage and trees uprooted.
