Three people suffered serious injuries after a car collided with their horse-drawn buggy Sunday evening.

The people in the horse and buggy were eastbound on U.S. Highway 18 and had stopped at a stop sign about half a mile north of Tripp, according to the Department of Public Safety.

They began to cross the intersection at Highway 31, when a 2001 Ford Taurus that was southbound hit the back of the buggy.

All three were ejected.

No charges are pending against the 41-year-old driver of the Ford Taurus. She was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
