Ehab Abdulmutta Jaber, 45, is escorted into Minnehaha County Courthouse on Monday.

CANTON - A Sioux Falls man charged with making terrorist threats outside an anti-Islam event received a cash-only bond of $2,500 during a court appearance Tuesday morning.

Ehab Jaber, 45, appeared via teleconference in Canton.

Jaber's charges stem from an incident that occurred outside an April 9 event titled "Sabotaging America: Islam's March Toward Supremacy," which featured speakers warning about the "dangers" of the religious faith.

In a video posted to Facebook Live, Jaber stood in the back of the room holding a Quran until he was asked to leave. The video continued in his car, where Jaber flashed several firearms and repeated the phrase "be scared."

During his court appearance Tuesday, prosecutors argued for a $10,000 bond, but the judge lowered it because of his lack of criminal history.

"No one wants to bond me, out so it doesn't matter," Jaber told the court.

Jaber was advised not to talk about his case in open court, but chose to say: "I've lost everything because of this, everything."

Drug testing through the 24/7 program, no weapons and good behavior were conditions the judge set if Jaber were bonded out of jail

A Lincoln County deputy state's attorney declined to comment following the hearing.

rosecutors told the judge that Jaber brought what appeared to be an AK-47, M4, multiple handguns and multiple rounds of ammo to the event April 9.

Sioux Falls Police and FBI agents visited with Jaber that night and concluded he didn't pose a serious threat to the community, a police spokesman said at the time.

On Friday, Jackley and Lincoln County State's Attorney Thomas Wollman announced a different conclusion and charged Jaber with making a terrorist threat.

A search of Jaber's Sioux Falls apartment yielded a small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He pleaded not guilty Monday to a charge of possession of a controlled substance in Minnehaha County. Magistrate Judge Eric Johnson issued a $2,500 bond on the condition Jaber not use drugs or possess firearms.
