Mark Ofuri is opening Ophelia's, which is named after his wife.

A live jazz bar plans to open Saturday in downtown Sioux Falls.

Mark Ofuri, a native of West Africa who has lived in the U.S. for more than two decades, is turning the former Cookie Jar space at 125 W. 10th St. into Ophelia's.

Ofuri said the bar will serve beer and wine, but he hopes to secure a liquor license someday. Eventually, he'll serve food, but he said he's having trouble finding a contractor for the small kitchen remodeling job. The menu will include items such as gumbo and cheeseburgers.

Ophelia's, which is named after Ofuri's wife, will feature live music Friday and Saturday nights.

"We're hoping to attract an older crowd," Ofuri said.
