Sioux Falls Catholic Schools President Robert Wehde will retire at the end of the school year.

Wehde on Tuesday announced his decision to end his 28-year career in Catholic education in order to spend time with his family.

"This is a very special and unique school system," Wehde said in a press release.

Wehde led the Catholic school system through growth, including increasing enrollment, raising teacher salaries and overseeing investments in technology infrastructure.
