A former South Dakota collegiate baseball player is suing the city of Sioux Falls after an alleged safety net failure at a batting cage caused him to be struck in the head with a baseball.

The federal lawsuit filed by Jordan Jeske doesn’t list specific damages being sought from the city.

Jeske alleges that the incident occurred on Sept. 22, 2014, when he and another member of the University of Sioux Falls baseball team were practicing at Harmodon Park.

The line-drive baseball struck him in the head and fractured his jaw, court records show.

An attorney with the city of Sioux Falls could not be reached for a comment.
