A trial date has been set for a judge to hear arguments in a lawsuit over a massive new home on Second Avenue in the McKennan Park neighborhood.

The three-day court trial will start June 28.

The 5,000-square-foot home, owned by Joseph and Sarah Sapienza, is the subject of a lawsuit from their neighbors, Barbara and Pierce McDowell.

Family sees historic district 'dream home' as nightmare

The McDowells are asking a judge to force the Sapienzas to bring their home into compliance with city code. They claim the home keeps natural light from reaching their home, stops them from using their wood-burning fireplace and violates the Board of Historic Preservation’s building standards because it doesn't look like the one approved by the board.

The lawsuit seeks unspecific punitive and compensatory damages.
