There's an unintentional theme to this week's tidbits: South Dakota State is landing commitments from Minnesotans in a variety of sports.

SDSU football recruit Sam Zenner, the other brother of star running back Zach Zenner, is off to a strong start to his senior season at Eagan, Minn. Through three games, he's rushed 50 times for 536 yards with three scores of more than 40 yards – and he's playing quarterback rather than running back in order to best help the team. Zenner is 21 of 32 passing for 277 yards and two TDs.

Last week, the SDSU women's soccer team got a verbal commitment from Breanna Johnson of Maple Grove, Minn. The midfielder was an all-state and second-team all-metro pick last year as a sophomore – she posted five goals and five assists – and this season has been named among the 10 players to watch by the Star Tribune.

The SDSU baseball program also has been making additions, last week picking up two more Minnesotans for the 2015 class. One of them, left-handed pitcher Henry DeCaster, said that he also had a scholarship offer from Cincinnati. The 6-foot-3 DeCaster helped Mounds View win the Class 3A state title in the spring along with fourth round draft pick Sam Hentges. His older brother, Ethan DeCaster, is a right-handed pitcher for Creighton.

Remember "Sole Reconciliation," the locally made film about the SDSU men's basketball trip to Haiti? There are two free screenings coming up: Thursday at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls and Sept. 25 at the SDSU Performing Arts Center. Here's more info.
