A 24-year-old Aberdeen police officer was found dead in his home Thursday night, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.

Officer Aaron Follmer, 24, was found dead in his home, according to Aberdeen police.

Aaron Follmer joined the police department in July 2013. The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into his death, and at this time no foul play is suspected, according to a post on the police department's Facebook page.

Follmer was actively involved in his home community of Big Lake, Minn. In 2014, he received the Lifesaving Award for administering CPR to a woman and saving her life.

Follmer  also had become a certified drug recognition expert and was slated to become an instructor for the emergency vehicle operations course.

Aberdeen police said Follmer was "extremely well-liked throughout the department and was active in our community."

"We will miss him dearly," the Facebook post read. "Please join us in extending our prayers and heartfelt sympathies to his family."
