KSFY-TV news anchor Nancy Naeve is making national news for some comments she made on Tuesday's morning show about recent severe weather coverage.

Naeve rebuked viewers who had flooded the stations with calls protesting how live weather coverage of tornado warnings on Sunday meant they missed prime time programming.

She told viewers meteorologist Shawn Cable's coverage was life-saving for people in northwest Iowa about to be hit by the storm.

The clip was picked up by the Washington Post's website. Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition also contacted the station about it.

"Our single most important mission as a station is to inform and protect the public. Our weather team knows that when life-threatening conditions are present anywhere in our vast viewing area, we will pre-empt programming. Shawn did exactly what he was supposed to do in that situation," said Jim Berman, KSFY's president and general manager.

"As for Nancy's comments, her passion on this subject was quite evident and understandable--and was a reflection of what all of us at KSFY believe--that protecting our viewers is top priority."
