Fire destroys Tea home; nobody injured

By Mark Walker

A family of four is displaced after a house fire in Tea early Wednesday morning.

The family at 47109 Dorothy Road was awoken by the sounds of a fire alarm and the smell of smoke at about 2:15 a.m.

A deputy with the sheriff's office nearby saw fire coming from the garage attached to the home and called fire rescue, assistant fire chief Steve Oberle said.

Arriving crews saw heavy smoke and flames. The wind caused the fire to spread to the house, Oberle said.

Crews had the fire extinguished in about 45 minutes, but remained on scene to knock down hot spots.

No one was hurt in the fire.

The Red Cross is providing assistance with clothing and food for the two adults and two children. Lodging at a hotel also is being provided for two of them.
