Do your part, help us clean up a park

The third annual Big Sioux River Greenway Clean-up is from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21.

Last year, nearly 200 volunteers helped pull over 4,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from the river and its banks during the clean-up event even though Mother Nature did it’s best to dampen the fun.

The weather can only be nicer this year, so if you’re interested in joining a clean-up team at one of 13 parks throughout town, contact the Public Works Environmental Division at 605-367-8276.

You can also join Argus Leader reporters Joe Sneve and Patrick Anderson’s team by calling them at 331-2318 and 977-3936 or emailing jsneve@argusleader.com and panderson@argusleader.com. Their team will be cleaning up Sherman Park, near 12th Street and Kiwanis Avenue.

You can get more information about the event by clicking the link. http://www.siouxfalls.org/green

Team members will be greeted with an Argus Leader booth at the park entrance where gloves and trash bags will be provided. There will be some breakfast items and refreshments on hand as well.

Participants can spend as much or as little time as they wish helping out. Come early or come late – either way we’ll be happy to have you. Please let us know if you’d like to be a part of the team by May 17.
