Victim in crash near Lake Preston identified

A 38-year-old man died in a crash near Lake Preston on Tuesday night after losing control of his truck and striking a tree, according to the Department of Public Safety.

The driver, Kristian Nuzum of Erwin, lost control of his 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup in the westbound lane of 204th Street, four miles north of Lake Preston.

Authorities say his pickup went into a ditch and struck a tree. Nuzum was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash.
