PizzaRev not too shabby, opens Thursday

The personal pizzas at PizzaRev are thin crust and pretty tasty.

Our city's second make-your-own pizza joint opens Thursday with a 'pay whatever you want' benefit, with donations going to the Children's Miracle Network and Sanford Children's Hospital.

PizzaRev, sandwiched between Pier 1 and Plains Commerce Bank on 49th Street, was packed on Tuesday for a sneak peek event. It's a pretty cool space with great windows and bright orange and red color scheme. The assembly line, and pizza cooking/delivery, moved quickly. There is a 'Rev It Up' bar with a selection of hot sauces and plenty of crushed pepper and Parmesan cheese.

The pizza itself has a crisp, thin crust (there is a gluten-free option as well), with plenty of cheese and topping options to craft your own creation. I went with pepperoni, sweet fennel sausage, jalapeño, onion and garlic. The thin crust was fine, though not on par with what your going to get at Red Rossa, the sauce slightly sweet but still tangy/tasty and the toppings not quite the same level you'll find at Fierro. That said, I definitely enjoyed my pizza, and wouldn't hesitate to swing by again for lunch while out in the mall area.

You should check it out.
