A woman accused of stealing almost $59,000 from a local business’ four stores has been indicted.

Cynthia Ann Ahlers was charged with one count of felony embezzlement.

Police spokesman Sam Clemens said they were called on July 16 by an employee who noticed money had been missing from the business RJ Ries. Clemens said Ahlers was the general manager for all Sioux Falls locations.

“They found four stores that were missing money and she was responsible for verifying the funds and depositing them,” Clemens said.

Ahlers was later charged and then arrested.

Court documents say the money was being taken over a two-year period.
